FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

all the answers to your most asked questions

IS YOUR HERD REGISTERED?

Yes, all of our breeding does and bucks are registered with the MDGA. We do not register wethers. All doelings and bucklings sold will be registered.

DO YOU HAVE BOTTLE BABIES? I'VE HEARD THEY ARE THE FRIENDLIEST!

We currently do not offer bottle babies unless for some reason we need to supplement or pull kids from their dams. We believe that dam raising produces the happiest healthiest kids possible. No, this absolutely does not mean our kids are not friendly! Please read our testimony page to see what our current customers think! We spend many hours out in the fields with them to ensure this.

WHEN WILL I GET TO PICK UP MY KID?

We like to keep bucklings with dams until 8 weeks, doelings on their dams until 10-12 weeks and wethers can leave at 12 weeks after banding.

WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR GOATS?

The girls get free choice grass/alfalfa hay blend and forage daily. Each evening they all get my special blend of alfalfa pellets, Haystack's special blend pellets, black oil sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, & beet pulp shreds. Does in milk & during the final 30 days of pregnancy also receive daily a non gmo soy & corn free grain from a local mill. The kids also receive grain for the first 6 month as they grow & are currently on a Modesto Milling pellet that contains Garlic, Thyme, Anise Oil, Cinnamon, bark,Ceylon, Anise, Rosemary Oil, Diatomaceous Earth and kelp to help keep them healthy & prevent against things such as coccidiosis & worms.

The boys get free choice grass and orchard hay and forage daily as well. I give them timothy & orchard grass pellets and sometimes get beet pulp and black oil sunflower seeds as treats on top.

All goats get free choice access to minerals & free choice kelp meal. We use Sweetlix Meat Maker loose mineral as well as Little Avalon Farms mineral buffet.

WHAT SUPPLEMENTS DO YOU GIVE?

In addition to the free choice minerals and kelp meal, the herd gets copper boluses, BoSe, & selenium vitamin E gel as needed. We also supplement for regular parasite control & boosted immunities. Read more on that below.

HOW DO YOU MANAGE PARASITES?

I like to keep my herd as naturally maintained as possible.  The herd receives a weekly herbal wormer as well as an essential oil regimen with great success. I currently use Molly's Herbals parasite formulas & Fir Meadow's GI Soother combined with DoTerra essential oils. We also run routine fecals twice a year or as needed to make sure we stay looking good. My kids get started on the herbs & oils around 3-4 weeks of age. The only times we chemically deworm are after kidding, when new goats are added to the herd & when fecals show the need. The weekly herbs & oils are a lot of work, but well worth it. We've had great success with this routine.

IS YOUR HERD TESTED?

My herd has been clean tested for CAE/CL & Johne's. We last tested in April of 2023. We have never had a positive result on any test in the past, always have proven negative (clean). We draw blood on site & mail it into WADDL. I will provide a copy of the clean test report upon request. We have a few goats G6S normal by parentage & the rest have been tested G6S normal.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I EXPECT TO PAY FOR A MINI NUBIAN?

Our kids start at $500 for breeding stock and go up from there. The variance with the pricing of the goats depending on the generation, polled or horned, moon spotted, eye color, age & sex etc. Here is a formula I go off of when calculating where to price my kids.

3rd Generation & lower $500

4th & 5th Generation buckling $550, doeling $550

6th Generation & up (purebred) buckling $550, doeling $600

add $50 for moonspots

add $50 for blue eyes

add $50 for strong milk lines, milk star parents (*B bucklings)

add $75 for polled

unregistered wethers $200

HOW CAN I GET A KID FROM YOU?

The best way to ensure a kid is by being placed on my waitlist! A $50 non refundable deposit is required to hold your place. I release kids for sale to my waitlist first, before releasing to the public (if there are any left). Contact me to be placed on the list!
